Cyborg vs Budd: The Bellator 238 is set to go down Saturday in Southern California, with Cris Cyborg vs. Julia Budd serving as the main event. Cyborg’s debut and her quest to capture another championship are the key storylines of the headliner, but it’s not the only high-stakes bout on the card. The Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix is set to continue with Adam Borics and Darrion Caldwell’s quarterfinal the night’s co-main event.
The tournament is Bellator’s third of its kind. Ryan Bader became a two-division champion in the heavyweight tournament, and Douglas Lima recaptured welterweight gold in the other. This year, $1 million and the featherweight title awaits the winner.
Bellator 238: “Budd vs. Cyborg” airs TONIGHT (Sat., Jan. 25, 2020) from The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., streaming exclusively online via DAZN. Undefeated in her Bellator tenure, “The Jewel” Julia Budd (13-2) faces her most fearsome opponent to date in Cris Cyborg (21-2, 1 NC) with the women’s Featherweight title on the line.
Once arguably the best female mixed martial artist in the world, Cris Cyborg is ready to set foot in the Bellator MMA cage for the first time in an effort to start redefining her legacy as she challenges Bellator women’s featherweight champion Julia Budd in the main event of Bellator 238 on Saturday. The fight is Cyborg’s first since an ugly parting of ways with UFC last year.
Cyborg’s Bellator debut isn’t the only notable fight on this loaded card, however. Former Bellator bantamweight champ Darrion Caldwell faces off with undefeated fast-rising contender Adam Borics in a Featherweight Grand Prix quarterfinal fight, Sergio Pettis also makes the jump from UFC to Bellator, boxer Ava Knight fights in her second MMA bout and kickboxing star Raymond Daniels returns to the cage as well.
